‘ On the issue of solar power that you want to establish in Kebbi State, it is a welcome development.

‘ We have been having running battle with electricity problem in the state, even though it is not only peculiar to Kebbi State, it is a general problem ‘, he lamented.

He said provision of social basic aminities including electricity was part of his campaign promises to people of the state and therefore would support the establishment of solar power electricity company in the State.

Idris stressed the importance of having steady power supply to people of the state particularly for petty businesses to thrive.

The governor noted with satisfaction that the facilitator of the project had earlier said that the project would be funded by China Government, believing that: “if China says is going to fund a project, it will fund it 100 per cent.”

Idris assured the company that the state government would create an enabling environment for them to conveniently carry out the project for the benefit of the state.

While informing the visitors that the state was blessed with abundant sun light, the governor said they would be conducted round to find a suitable place to mount their solar panels.

He urged the state government to avail them the opportunity to showcase their experiences and expertise.

The facilitator of the project, Prince Hussani Zakari said Kebbi was among the two states that would benefit from the project in Nigeria, adding that the state was endowed with large deposit of mineral resources.

“And prominent among these mineral resources is lithium, and lithium is a major component that Chinese Government used to generate solar power.

“China Power Company will shoulder the responsibility of this project, approval has already been given by China Government to construct an independent power plant in Kebbi because Fadel International Holding Group is doing business in the state,” he said.
