Engage Lawmakers In Your Policies, Projects’ Formulation, Execution, Bauchi Assembly Urges Local Government Chairmen

Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has urged Caretaker Committee Chairmen of Local Government Areas in the State to always engage members representing them in the Assembly in projects and policies’ formulation and implementation.

This, according to the Committee will accelerate development especially at the grassroot level because the Lawamkers are not only critical stakeholders in the local governments but partners of progress who are ever ready to give positive contributions on the development of their local government areas and the State in general.

Chairman of the Committee Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan made the statement during their familiarization visit to Katagum, Jama’are and Itas/Gadau Local Government Councils on Tuesday.

He also stated that although the composition of the Assembly includes members from PDP, APC and NNPP, they put their differences aside and work for the interest of the State, hence the need for the Chairmen to emulate them by consulting any lawmaker from their local governments on matters affecting the society irrespective of the political party he belongs.

Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan further emphasized on the need for harmonious working relationship between the chairmen, deputies, councilors, head of administrations, directors and all workers for the best interest of the people.

He called on heads of administration to make sure all workers go to their places of work and absenteeism is ended in local service in the State.

The Chairman commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad for rehabilitation of palaces of emirs and district heads across the State, saying that very soon the Committee will embark on an oversight visits to the projects and others being executed in the twenty local government areas of the State.

In their separate remarks, the Caretaker Chairmen of Katagum, Jama’are and Itas/Gadau Local Government Areas, Alhaji Musa Ahmad Azare, Alhaji Inuwa Muhammad and Alhaji Yakubu commended the Committee for the visit and stated that they have succeeded in establishing a strong working relationship with councillors, heads of administration, workers and all stakeholders in their respective local government areas.

While assuring that they will always work together with the State Lawmakers in their administration, the Chairmen also narrated to the Committee how they are succeeding in touching the lives of their people by strictly implementing the policies and developmental agenda of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad.

Meanwhile the Committee paid courtesy visits to the Emir of Katagum His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Faruk II and the Emir of Jama’are His Royal Highness Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Wabi in their palaces to seek for guidance and build working relationship.
