Bauchi Assembly Urges Local Governments Workers To Give Proper Guidance, Technorati Advice To Chairmen

Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs has urged Local government workers across the State to properly guide the Caretaker Committees of their respective local governments by giving technocratic advice for efficient administration.

Chairman of the Committee Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan made the remarks in Shira and Giade Local Government Areas on Tuesday, in continuation of their familiarization visit to all Local Government Councils of the State.

He noted that the Chairmen and their council cannot succeed if the civil servants who have the technical know how didn’t guide them properly on how to go about all matters arising in the administration of their local governments, stressing the need for mutual respect and cooperation between Caretaker Committee and the workers so that they will be equipped with
new ideas for problem solving and improvement of their abilities to achieve common goals set to them by the Constitution and the Administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad.

The Chairman said that their visit to the Councils aimed at creating familiarity and synergy between the Assembly and the local government councils so as to achieve the common aim of taking development to every part of the State.

He however lamented about poor execution of some contracts awarded in some local government areas, bowing that the Committee will soon embark on inspection of the projects and every contractor found wanting, will be sanctioned.

Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan also commended workers in the local governments for attending to their duty posts, hoping that the tempo will be maintained so as to escape from the wrath of the Almighty Allah for those who shortchanged the humanity and terms of their pledged engagements.

In their separate remarks, the Chairmen Caretaker Committees of Shira and Giade Local Government Areas Alhaji Babangida Ishaq and Alhaji Usman Muhammad Saleh highlighted some achievements they recorded so far which include; training of staff on record updates, provision of medical assistance, procurement hospital facilities, construction of culverts and drainage, award of scholarship to indigenous students, furnishing of government offices among others.

While requesting the Honourable House to offer helping hands and support to the local governments to improve infrastructure, education, health, social welfare and tackle numerous challenges affecting them, they assured that the councils will redouble their efforts to ensure that a good working relationship is being sustained between them and the Honourable House for the benefit of the people.
