Kebbi State Government has sought the services of the hunters’ association in the State in providing security to electrical transformers across the state.

The call was made by Alhaji Kabiru Sani Giant , Special Adviser to the Governor on Power and Political Affairs shortly after meeting the members of the local Hunters Association in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, the call became necessary following reported cases of vandalisation of transformers and theft of armoured cables by miscreants in some communities.

He decried that it was very unfortunate that some men of the underworld were taking advantage of the current blackout in the State following the fire incident which razed 90MVA (330KV/132KV) and 60MVA (132KV/33KV) transformers supplying power to Kebbi, Sokoto and parts of Zamfara States .

He averred:’ ‘The miscreants are taking advantage of the blackout to steal armoured cables and vandalise transformers by removing some vital electrical parts .

” This has repercussions on the public and poses a serious threat to the safety and protection of these important electrical gadgets in our communities.

‘ That is why we are seeking the services of the hunters’ association under its Commandant and Alhaji Labaran as they are seasoned local security personnel.

” Consider your work as a sacrifice and service to the people of Kebbi State only Allah can reward you abundantly ,” he urged.

The SA charged the hunters to be vigilant at the nooks and crannies of the State where the electrical gadgets were installed to provide adequate security against theft.

He equally appealed to community members particularly the youths to be vigilant in their areas.

In his response, the State Commandant of Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, Amb. Musa Hussaini Rambo thanked Governor Nasir Idris and the Special Adviser on Power and Political Affairs for their support to the association.

He also thanked Alhaji Labaran for his unrelenting advice on security matters as they affect the association.

Rambo pledged the commitment of members of the association to sustain regular patrols in order to provide security and protection to the transformers across the state.
