Flooding: Bauchi state government plans to provide solutions.

Bauchi State government has assured the residents affected by flooding in the state that Government will provide a lasting solution to flooding in their areas.

The Commissioner ministry of Housing and Environment Danlami Ahmad Kawule stated this during a visit to Cheledi Village of Kirfi Lacal Government area of Bauchi State were torrential downpour washed away houses, destroyed food items as well as domestic animals and rendering many households homeless.

Danlami Kawule said the deligation were at village to commiserate with the people of the affected communities and to acertain the level of damage course by the heavy rainfall with a view to provide a lasting solution for the unforeseen calamity.

While receiving the deligation, the Caretaker Chairman of Kirfi Lacal Government Area Abdulkadir Umar Dewu applauded the government for timely responding by constituting committee to assess the flooding affected the area.

Abdulkadir Dewu called on relevant authorities to provide immediate assistance for the people who are presently taking refuge in every available space across the Local Government area.

He therefore, warned people of the affected communities to desist from act of buildings their houses along water ways and called on the Bauchi state government to resettle people who their shelter destroyed by flood, noting that issue of water flooding had became a nightmare for Kirfi local council.

Corroborating on the matter, District Head of Kirfi, Lawan Muhammad Kirfi stressed that the major problem is lack of drainages in the affected villages leading to flooding in the area and urged government to to divert the course of the streams that runs around Cheledi Village and it environ.

The delegation was led by the Commissioner of Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka, Commissioner of Special Duties, Farouk Mustapha and Directir General BASEPA, Dr Ibrahim Kabir among Others.
