Bauchi Governor Urges Corps Members To Make Positive Impact On Lives Of Host Communities

:Pledges commitment to protection of their lives, property

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi state on Tuesday urged corps members deployed to the state to embark on execution of people’s oriented Community Development Projects in order to make a positive impact on the lives of their host communities.

The governor who was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream I of the NYSC orientation programme held at Wailo orientation camp, expressed optimism that their service year would be a beacon of hope and positive change for the overall development of their host communities.

Represented by his Deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, the governor said on its part, the state government has put measures in place to ensure the safety and security of the corps members deployed across communities in the state throughout their service year.

He told the corps members that challenges facing the country are enormous, hence the need to be agents of positive change by seeking ways to address social and economic issues, promote education, and as well participate fully in addressing environmental challenges.

Governor Bala Mohammed who congratulated the corps members for the successful completion of their orientation course, urged them to use the skills and knowledge acquired to be a good ambassadors of the NYSC scheme as their commitment, dedication, and hard work over the past three weeks have acknowledged.

“I want to emphasize the importance of your safety and security during your service year. Your well-being is of utmost importance to us, and we have put measures in place to ensure that you are protected throughout your stay in Bauchi State. Please, adhere to all safety guidelines and cooperate with security agencies to maintain a safe environment for everyone.

“During your stay in the orientation camp, you have acquired essential skills, knowledge and values that will equip you for the challenges ahead. As you move to your various places of primary assignment, I encourage you to embrace the attributes of discipline, perseverance and integrity. Remember that you are not just representing yourselves but also the NYSC and the entire nation.

“As corps members, you came from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and regions, but through your interactions and shared experiences, you have built bridges and broken down barriers that once separated you. You have demonstrated that we are all Nigerians, bound together by a common purpose, stronger and more united nation.”

In a welcome address, the NYSC coordinator in the state, Mrs Rifkatu Daniel Yakubu appealed to all corps rmployers to accept corps members posted to them by assisting them to develop their potentials, and appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for his administration’s unwavering support to the scheme in the state.

“Gentlemen Corps members, I enjoin you to perform your duties with diligence and be guided by the provisions of the NYSC Act and Bye-Laws as well as workplace rules and regulations. In keeping with the objectives of the scheme, you are expected to integrate into your host communities while also appreciating and respecting their cultures. I must, however, emphasize that engagement in their local politics is a no-go-area for you.

“Furthermore, I enjoin you to undertake personal and group Community Development Service (CDS) projects that will help to uplift the living standard of the people of your host communities.”
