NYSC: Engage your self into various Skills acquisition and Entreprenuership development, state Coordinator Charges Corps Members

Members of the batch A stream 2 corps members have been urged to engage themselves into various Skill acquisition and Entreprenuership development program in order to become self-reliance after their service year.

The state Coordinator National youth Service Corps NYSC Kebbi state, Mrs Okolo Agatha Banki draft the hint while declaring open the Skill acquisition and Entreprenuership development SAED In program held at Dakin Gari orientation Camp in Kebbi state.

Mrs Okolo Agatha said data shows that most young graduates lack the requisite practical skills to compete for available jobs nationally and internationally which lead to the unemployment rate in Nigeria hit 37.7 percent in 2022 and has been projected to rise to 41 percent in 2023.

According to her, the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme was carefully designed in 2012 to equip corps members with hands-on training and entrepreneurship skill in order to be self-reliant and to contribute to the accelerated growth of the nation’s economy.

The state Coordinator added that the NYSC is collaborating with access Bank, Unity Bank, British American Tobacco Nigeria, to give grants to corps members who emerge successful in their business proposals competitions in some of the camps.

Mrs Okolo also reveal that adequate arrangements have been made with regulatory bodies like the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC), to educate members of the NYSC on the imperatives of standards in business including how to register your businesses.
