ATBUTH Commends MSF for supporting lassa fever patients

The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi has commended Medicine Sans Frontiers MSF for providing the neccessary humanitarian assistance to patients with cases of Lassa fever in the state.

Chief Medical Director of the Hospital Prof. Yusuf Jibrin made the commendation during a meeting with some stakeholders organised by the state primary health care development Agency to celebrate the control of the outbreak and marking the beginning of the de escalation of response activities and official ending of MSF intervention in Bauchi.

Prof. Yusuf Jibrin said the intervention rendered by the project has no doubt contributed immensely towards saving lives of the victims through provision of additional manpower, training and engaging additional staff in the treatment centre, meals and other logistics in conducting all the laboratory investigations without hitches.

In a remark the State Commissioner of Health Dr.Sabiu Gwalabe represented by Director complimentary and alternative medicine Pharm.Ibrahim assured the state Government readiness in ensuring quality health care service to the public.

He explained that Governor Bala Abdulkadir’s led administration in the state is poised to collaborate with any donor Agency to improve the well being of the citizenry.

The MSF Representative, PC Regular Project Mr. Herbert Mutubuki described the success recorded in curtailing the spread of Lassa fever in the state due to support and co-operation enjoyed from the staff of the hospital.
