Residents of Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State may begin to experience a slight hope of economic development and self reliance as Briskila Emefesi Women Foundation (BEWOF) Graduates maiden apprentices on Skills Acquisition.

The Executive Director of BEWOF Dr. Briskila Emefesi while speaking to our correspondent on Saturday at the graduation ceremony in Bogoro raised concerns about the shabby economic state in the area.

Lamenting on the economic need of people in the area compared to other 19 local government areas in the state she said,

“Bogoro Local Government seem to be backwards in terms of economy, you will not even notice any industry, no entreprenurship centres, no businesses flowing;

Even on a market day, when you come around, you will hardly see any sophisticated market system and so we decided to introduce this to close the huge gap”, Dr. Briskila said.

She submits that it is high time residents of Bauchi and that of Bogoro in particular get reoriented that government cannot meet their needs in terms of employment with or without academic qualifications arguing that giving them skills is a way of empowerment.

“During the training, we empowered them with knowledge of entreprenurship, beign self sufficient, independent and by doing that, we kind of Complement the efforts of the government”, she said.

According to her BEWOF vision is to have a Modern Skills Acquisition Centre in Bogoro where women and youths can be trained with different skills including tailoring, knitting, salon, cosematics and even carpentary.

She solicits for support from well meaning members of the society, donor organisation etc to keep the vision alife as the apprentices are given free training adding that they will in turn become employers of labour.

In her response, one of the graduands Polzar Dauda assured that they will not dump the certificates or slumber to engage the skills acquired to better their lots and that of Bogoro Local Government Area.

Our correspondent observed that traditional and religious rulers, community women, and entire members of the Bogoro LGA wore faces of excitement urging the BEWOF not to relent in its good deeds.
