2023 International Water Day: Group repairs broken boreholes in Bauchi Communities

The Junior Chambers International, a Non Governmental Organization in Bauchi has taken its activities to Wuntin Dada Community, with the fixing of community borehole in order to ensure constant supply of portable water in the area.

Speaking at the commissioning and handing over of the repaired project, the Hamlet head of the area Malam Ahmad Abubakar recalled that the borehole has broken down, which necessitated the urgent intervention of junior Chambers International to assist the community to settle down.

He said, the community with over Five Hundred people, have been managing with water from a dug well for their household chores, drinking and other domestic use, as well as for their cattle.

Inspecting the reactivation project of the Unguwar Yamma borehole project, the North East executive president JCI Mss Ilya Kyauta said the move is part of activities to commemorate the International water day in the state.

Mss Ilya Kyauta said JCI was deeply concerned with the challenge of clean water in the community and decided to renovate the facility to safeguard the people from waterborne diseases and the risks associated with travelling far distances to get water for domestic use.

Also speaking, the Bauchi State JCI president Mr. Arkila Yelmi, advised Unguwar Yamma Community of Wuntin Dada, to always observe personal hygiene for a healthy society.

One of the beneficiary, Malama Hauwa commended the Junior Chambers International for coming to their aid, adding that, the repaired borehole would no doubt address problem of water in the community especially at this Ramadan period.

Other members of the Community have also expressed gratitude to the Junior Chambers International, a Non Governmental Organization for alleviating their potable water problems by repairing the broken-down borehole.
