Three brand new tractors with implements procured under the 2022 capital development project were today launched for teaching and research at the Division of Agricultural Colleges, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala.
This brings to five the total number of tractors (Massey Ferguson – 375) acquired for the Division. Two tractors were first procured in 2021 when the Division marked the centenary anniversary of the Samaru College of Agriculture.
Speaking at the tractors’ launch, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, expressed delight that the heavy-duty vehicles would be used for teaching, research and other purposes at the Division’s colleges.

“This is quite commendable. Prof. Musa Mahadi has done superlatively well as a Director. His work is very outstanding; and I wish other Directors would follow suit,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

Prof. Bala also expressed joy that all the things the Director had been doing at the Division were the results of his own initiatives as a leader, stressing that one had to strategize very well to get things done.

The Vice-Chancellor, who commended members of Prof. Mahadi’s management team for their strong support towards the development of the Division, prayed to God to reward the Director abundantly for the great job he was doing.

The Director, Division of Agricultural Colleges, Prof. Musa Abdullahi Mahadi, had earlier in his remarks explained that he and his team had since responded to the Vice-Chancellor’s clarion call on the need to work hard for the improvement of teaching, learning, IGR and visibility globally.
Prof. Mahadi expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his unflinching support towards the development of the Division and assured him of their determination to continue to improve the system in the best interest of the University as a whole.
The Division’s Deputy Director, Dr. Abdullahi Namakka, gave a vote of thanks on behalf of management, staff and students of the Division, saying that they would ever remain grateful to the Vice-Chancellor for his support.

The Vice-Chancellor test-drove one of the tractors to formally launch the heavy-duty vehicles and expressed satisfaction with their condition.

Some of the dignitaries at the brief event included Ag. Director, Physical Planning and Municipal Services, Arc. Mohammed Suleiman; Division Secretary, Malam M.D. Suleiman; Provost, Samaru College of Agriculture, Prof. E.M.S. Imodagbe; and Deputy Provost, Samaru College of Agriculture, Dr. L.A. Folorunso.
