Kebbi procures 140 million naira science equipment for two Technical colleges

Kebbi State Government has procured science equipment worth One hundred and forty million naira in its efforts to improve technical education so as to impart modern technical skills into students.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Rtd Hon. Hassan Muhammad Shalla, presented the science equipment to the principal of Science College Bunza, Mallam Shehu Bagudu and his Zuru counterpart, Mallam Aliyu Muhammad Kele at the Abdullahi Fodio Islamic Centre, Birnin Kebbi, on Friday.

According to the Commissioner Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu gave approval for the procurement of the science equipment after submission of request to him by the Ministry to modernize the workshop of the two science colleges preparatory to the visit by the accreditation team of the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE.

He added that the purchase of the modern equipment would also afford unfettered opportunity to students of the two colleges to be in tune with modern technical skills.

He assured that the items procured were of high quality that could last between five and ten years.

The Commissioner also announced that Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has released two hundred million naira of the five hundred and forty million naira approved for the payment of WAEC fees for thirty thousand and thirty one students of secondary schools in the state.

Furthermore, the governor has made available, thirty million, naira for the purchase of chalk for schools while one hundred and sixty million naira has also been approved for the procurement of laboratory equipment for distribution to schools.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education similarly announced that three thousand furniture units for classrooms have been delivered to the state of the eight thousand units approved by the governor.

Shalla said Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu also approved seventeen million naira for the refurbishment of vehicles for the inspectorate division of the ministry for effective supervision of schools.

The Director of Science and Technical Education in the Ministry, Alhaji Hassan Ibrahim Ngaski thanked Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for placing premium on the development of education sector as testified by his prompt approval of infrastructural development and provision of teaching and learning materials to schools.

The Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji Nayalwa and other top officials of the Ministry witnessed the presentation of the items.
