In an effort to ensure adequate Healthcare financing and proper utilization of funds, Stakeholders have gathered to deliberate and find a sustainable mechanism for development of the health sector.
The quarterly technical working group TWG meeting was convened by the state ministry of health in collaboration with USAID-IHP Project aimed at exploring ways of strengthening the state healthcare financing and budgetry implemention for benefits of the citizens.
Speaking with newsmen on the occasion, The commissioner of Health Dr. Sabiu Abdu Gwalabe said the present administration is committed to achieving a universal health coverage for the citizens being a key area for sustainable development goals.
Dr. Sabiu Abdu Gwalabe said the state government has prioritized The healthcare sector by allocating above the national average Abuja declaration of 16% budget to the healthcare sector.
Adding that the state healthcare sector is finance from a mix of budgetry allocation hence the need for critical stakeholders in health financing as well as technical working group TWG to sit down and discuss on the framework and resource optimization in the state for the benefit of the populace.
Sabiu Gwalabe explained that the state government sees it as paramount to reduce over dependency on yearly budget to healthcare sector therefore will activate other revenue generation point to ease the burden of insufficient resources.
The commissioner further appreciated the contribution of all stakeholders who worked tirelessly for development of Resource optimization plan which according to him will enhance RMNCH+NM to people and improve the capacity of the state ministry of health for quality service delivery.
Also speaking Health financing advisor, USAID-IHP Pharmacist Khalid Kasim hinted that the reason for development of Resource optimization plan is that state have been making sufficient releases to the healthcare sector but still not making a required impacts at the grassroots.
Pharmacist Kasim further opined that the size of the budget will not be impactful if proper framework and resource optimization techniques are not employed hence the need for critical stakeholders to be equal to the task to achieve the target goal.
In a remark, The Emir of Dass Alh. Usman Bilyaminu Othman who double as Chairman of Bauchi state Emirates council committee on Health BASECCOH reaffirm their traditional leaders commitment toward demand creation as well as high level advocacy for achievement of the target mandates.
