Parents and Students of Federal College of Education (FCE) Zaria, have expressed concern over non release and issuance of results for the degree programmes two years after graduation from the College.

The parents and students made the complaint in separate interviews with newsmen on Monday.

Speaking to Journalists on the matter ,Malam Muhammad-Sani Mudi, a father of two of the students who speaks on behalf of the concern parents’ forum said personally his two sons finished in April 2021 at the College.

He added that his children (the students) studied degree programmes affiliated to Usman Danfodio University Sokoto and Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.`

According to the parents Since their graduation in April 2021 to date the College failed to issue results for children to enable them to proceed for NYSC and subsequent engagements.

“As a parent, we made efforts to ascertain the root of the problem but our efforts were not fruitful,’’ he said.

Mudi further lamented that as a parent, he paid exorbitant school fees more than what is being paid at universities to enroll his children to FCE Degree programmes to dodge the strikes action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

However, this was not fruitful as his children had wasted almost two years waiting for their result after completing their studies.

He said, a reliable source from the College told him that the delay was due to failure of the College authorities to settle affiliation fees to the universities which led to delay hence the appeal for intervention from NCCE and other key stakeholders.

The student who pleaded for anonymity said delay by the College was causing family crises between some of the students and their parents as some were doubting whether they studied or not.

Adding that, their colleagues from other colleges had graduated and commenced the national service adding the delay would not allow some of them to go for the national service (NYSC).

“He appealed to the college management to consider their plight”.

When contacted, the Academic Secretary of the College, Malam Ibrahim Mohammed did not deny the allegations of non-payment affiliation fees but said he is constrained to shed more light on the issue.

The academic secretary advised that we should see the Public Relations Officer of the College Hajiya Rakiya Sidi.

In her response, Public Relations Officer of the College, Hajiya Rakiya Sidi said she had little knowledge on the matter and she had to consult the Provost of the college before speaking on it.

She also promised to get back to us after seeking more clarification from the provost and which she did not do up to the time of filing the report as we agreed.
