Kebbi Govt. to return IDPs to their home towns, villages, says Bagudu

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu says the State Government is making arrangements to return all Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs to their towns and villages across the state.

The governor spoke on Friday when he addressed IDPs at Garin Hausawa in Danko Wasagu, Marafa and Fakai town ,Fakai Local Government of the state.

Governor Bagudu with his convoy drove through difficult terrain over a long distance before reaching Garin Hausawa village.

According to Bagudu,”we are taking more measures to ensure that you return to your respective towns and villages as soon as possible.

“We are also making arrangements to ensure that more security agents are deployed across all the banditry prone areas in the state.”

The Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum however said that the state government would provide all the welfare needs to the IDPs especially food, healthcare and other special needs of women and children soon .

The governor said that the state government was aware about the plight of the IDPs, adding,” but we are here to extend our deepest condolences to all the bereaved families.

” This visit is also aimed at commiserating with all those who were injured as a result of banditry attacks.”

Bagudu added that the state government was hugely concerned about the obnoxious displacement of the cross section of the people of the state.

He commended the people of Garin Hausawa, Maga and Danko for their magnanimity to the IDPs and urged them to sustain the gesture.

Bagudu also lauded the security agencies, vigilantes and other volunteers for their sacrifices to safeguard lives and properties.

He warned the people against rumour mongering and spreading fake news, saying that they do colossal damage to peace and security.

Bagudu also said the State Government would look into the deplorable road condition of Garin Hausawa village with a view to constructing it.

The Governor who was visibly worried about the condition of the IDPs who predominantly fled from their villages in Sokoto, Niger and Zamfara States as a result of bandits attacks, reechoed his appeal to people of Danko Wasagu and Fakai to be their brothers keepers by assisting them with shelter, food and clothing.

Earlier,the Councillor in Danko Wasagu, Musa Magawata and the Sole Administrator of Maga/Kyabu, Hajiya Hafsat Muhammad thanked the governor for the visit.

She told the governor that many of the IDPs there were from the neighboring states of Sokoto and Zamfara. She requested for deployment of more security to the area to enable them return to their homes.

The Chairman of Danko Wasagu local Government, Alhaji Hussaini Aliyu Bena and that of Fakai Local Government Area, Alhaji Umaru Magaji expressed delight with the visit by the Governor.

The Chairman of Danko Wasagu local government, Alhaji Hussaini Aliyu Bena, told the governor that most of the IDPs fled from the neighboring states owing to the prevailing peace in Kebbi State.

Hon Tsahara Bawa, Special Adviser to the Governor also appreciated the visit by the governor.

She expressed gratitude to the governor for quickly coming to the area to see the condition of the IDPs almost immediately they informed him.

The Adviser also appealed to the governor for more security in view of the big number of women, children and old persons.

Hon Danjuma Abdullahi and Hon Haliru Aliyu, State House of Assembly members representing the area all expressed gratitude to the governor for his concern to people of Zuru Emirate.

They attributed the influx of the IDPS into their local government areas to the problem of insecurity in Sokoto, Zamfara and Niger states.

The Chief of Danko Chiefdom , Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim lauded the efforts of the governor for his concern to people in Danko Wasagu.

‘ You are always in my domain when it matters most, I remain grateful to that sir ‘ he commended the governor.

He said told the governor that the activities of banditry in Kebbi was not as serious as in other states.

The monarch has however expressed worry over the large number of IDPs in Maga who arrived the village from neighboring states, he appealed to the governor to visit the area to show his compassion as he did to Garin Hausawa village.

In all the separate IDP camps he visited in Danko Wasagu and Fakai Local Government Areas, the governor was full of compassion and sympathetic to the IDPs giving them hope and offering relief assistance.
