16 Days Activism: SFH Leads Walk Against Gender-Based Violence In Bauchi

The Society For Family Health (SFH) has led a walk against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Bauchi state with a called to end any forms of violence against women and children in the society.

The theme of this year celebrations was tagged: “Orange The World” which marked the 16th Days of Gender Activism (GBV).

Speaking to the journalists at the campaign yesterday the Chief of Party Society for Family Health, Abdul-Salman Salihu, said that the new campaign strategy “Stop GBV, Reach Out, Speak Out”, was aimed to creating more awareness and speak out for those who could not be heard in the society as well as to seeking for justice to the vulnerable and less privilege people.

He said, “SFH also rendered free medical support on HIV/AIDS, as well as advocating against forceful and unwanted marriages, right to education, and all forms of abuses and descriminations on women and girls.”

He added that the program is for a five years being sponsored by the USAID project that deal with key into population areas of HIV/Aids, prevention and treatment to the most vulnerable and lessprivilage groups in the society.

Also speaking, the strategic Information Advisor SFH, Mr. Issac Omale said the streets walking was aimed at calling attention of the people to stand up on their right particularly, women and girls against all forms of injustice, rape, abuses, and descriminations by the community.

On her part, Mrs Zainab Polmi, SharpT03 Chemonics project coordinator, said the awareness campaign is to help in educating, enlightening and sensitizing the people on the right of the women and children, with a view to treat them equal with their male counterparts in in the society.
