Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Abubakar Y. Suleiman has tasked Sayawa community of Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Governments to sustain the current tempo of peace and unity in the area for development to flourish and past glories be restored.

He made the statement while speaking as Guest Speaker during the 2021 Leemp Zaar Festival which took place in Tafawa Balewa, today.

The Speaker explained that the manifestation of insecurity and conflicts in the communities has become one of the major problems that affected the long cherished cordial relationship that existed between different tribes and religions.

According to him, the dimensions and degrees of crises in the country have halted the growth of many communities and the country at large.

“This state of affairs continues to cripple the nation and drive investors away because no investor will be ready to invest his funds in an unpeaceful and insecure environment.

“How long will it take us to understand the importance of peace and security and embrace measures to sustain them? How long do we continue to harm the present and future generations by actions, placing the dreams of our heroes past in a state of perpetual unrealism.? He asked rhetorically.

Abubakar Y Suleiman commended the people of Tafawa Balewa and environs for the peace that is existing in recent years.

The Speaker stated that “we have a very big challenge ahead of us; and that is restoring the lost glory of Tafawa Balewa, the home of first Prime Minister of Nigeria, the pride of Sayawa, the pride of Jarawa, the pride of Christians and Muslims.

“I may not be wrong if I say gone are the days when Muslims and Christians, Jarawa, Sayawa, Fulani and other tribes live together as one in Tafawa Balewa”

“Peace is priceless, we cannot achieve our ambition, yearnings and aspirations without peace. Almighty God has created us in different races, religions and tongues so that we can understand and tolerate our differences. If we hate and kill each other we are challenging how Almighty God created us.” He added.

Speaker Abubakar Suleiman also advised youth not to allow themselves to be used as agents of destruction because they have great role to play in peace and nation building.

While attributing the peace, unity and development being enjoyed in the State to the good governance being championed by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad, the Speaker pledges that as representatives of the people, the State Assembly will continue to partner with the executive arm to provide meaningful laws and legislations that have direct bearing on the people of the State.

In his address, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad expressed his satisfaction with current peaceful atmosphere and love in Zaar land devoid of rancour or any clash.

The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Danlami Ahmed explained that he will work hand in hand with stakeholders and institutions of government on the requests of the Zaar community for a chiefdom and relocation of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Secretariat to Tafawa Balewa to ensure that right things are done at the right time and according to the law.

Earlier in their welcome addresses, the executive chairmen of Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Governments, Daniel Mazadu and Ilya Habila said that Leemp Zaar Festival is a platform for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Sayawa at a time when many cultures are going into extinction.

According to them, culture plays critical role in the society as panacea for peace, therefore the festival will also serve as
avenue for different communities to interact with the culture of Sayawa which will foster unity among them and bring peace stability and national cohesion.
