Kebbi State owned media organizations to be digitalised soon – Gov Idris

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has given an assurance that the two state owned media houses, Kebbi television and Kebbi radio would be digitalised to meet up standards of modernism.

The governor made this known at the premises of Kebbi State television while responding to questions from journalists shortly after going round the two media houses to assess their conditions of operation in terms of social services to the people.

The State Chief Executive said after assessing the condition of the television station and the explanation from the general manager on the challenges being faced by the media house, he made positive promises he pledged to redeem.

According to Governor Idris, the general manager and the Commissioner of Information were directed to come up with requirements that would give birth to a durable and modernised station for his approval.

‘ We went round ,we are happy with what we saw,the GM talked about payments to NBC,we will sit with NBC and see how N138 million would be paid ‘, he assured.

Governor Idris also promised to settle all the outstanding money being owed by the contractor handling the digitalisation of the television station and provide some vehicles to the station to enable them discharge their duties diligently.

The governor also promised that apart from the digitilisation process some challenges such as issue of manpower and increase funding, promising to seriously address the obstacles for better service delivery to the society.

Earlier , the general manager of Kebbi Radio. Engr Mahe Muhammad and the general manager of Kebbi State Radio,Alhaji Aminu Sani Kamba while appreciating the visit of the governor to their stations highlighted some of the major challenges being faced by thier stations.

The governor has earlier inspected a vocational center for JSS students at Nagari College, Birnin Kebbi, Bovine Artificial Insemination Unit and made some observations on the ongoing construction of Emir Haruna road in Birnin Kebbi.
