Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Muhammad, has visited Azare town to assess the damage caused by the recent #EndBadGovernance protest, which turned violent.

The governor expressed his dismay at the destruction of public and private properties, stating that it was a clear message to those in governance to rethink and provide good governance to the people.

Also during the visit, Governor Bala Muhammad paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Katagum, Alh. Umar Faruq II, over the unfortunate violence.

He announced that the state government would pardon the youths who engaged in illicit behavior during the protest but warned that any future breakdown of law and order would not be condoned.

The governor commended the emir for his support and cooperation with the present administration and promised to rebuild the burnt LGA secretariat and other affected properties.

He also announced plans for the massive urbanization of Azare town, connecting all areas with road networks.

Governor Muhammad revealed that preliminary reports indicated that the hoodlums responsible for the violence were from neighboring states, including Kano, Jigawa, and Yobe.

He urged parents, traditional and religious leaders, to take full responsibility in preventing their children from engaging in illicit activities.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State, Auwal Musa, Muhammad briefed the gathering on the police report on the violence.

In his remarks the Emir of Katagum, Alh. Umar Faruq II, appreciated the governor’s prompt response in preventing the escalation of the violence and called for more efforts to address youth restiveness and unemployment to prevent future recurrences.
